The Vishwakarma community traces its origin to Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and supreme craftsman of the universe. According to sacred tradition, Lord Vishwakarma is the creator of the world’s great civilizations and the guiding force behind the arts of architecture, sculpture, engineering, and craftsmanship.
From his five faces were born the five great Rishis — Sanaga, Sanathana, Abhuvanasa, Prathana, and Suparnasa. These Rishis gave rise to five gotras and 25 upagotras, spreading across India and the world. Each lineage carried forward specialized skills in Carpentry, Blacksmithing, Sculpture, Goldsmithing, and Metal Casting, forming the foundation of human civilization itself.
Throughout history, Vishwakarmas have been recognized as builders of temples, sculptors of idols, creators of tools, designers of ornaments, and masters of innovation. Our contributions are visible in the timeless architecture of ancient India, the precision of metalwork, and the creativity of traditional arts that continue to inspire generations.
Today, the Vishwakarma community represents nearly 18 crore people in India, living in every village and city, yet bound by a shared divine heritage. While many of us continue in traditional crafts, others have advanced into fields such as engineering, technology, entrepreneurship, and education.
The spirit of Vishwakarma is not only about creating with our hands but also about innovating with our minds and uplifting society through knowledge, skill, and unity. We believe that just as our ancestors shaped civilizations, our community has the strength to lead in shaping the future of our nation and the world.
